When you think of a 1965 Ford Mustang, you most likely imagine a sporty and charming 2-door pony car cruising backroads or down a coastal highway. One the other hand, very few people would imagine something remotely similar to this when picturing a 1965 Mustang... with those people being Ken Block and Mark Stevens of Ohio. This insanely radical pony car still wears its 1965 cab and doors, but that's about it. Created by the mind and hands of a Baja 1000 racer and expert fabricator, this creation was a labor of love and purpose. While Mark wanted to create something wickedly cool and radical, he wanted to use it in SCCA autocross events and for street driving.
As a shock to some, this track-focused beast is street legal. In a crazy blend of track car, resto-mod, pro-touring, street car, and no-rules custom; Mark birthed his homemade Hoonicorn. Beginning under the hood, the Mustang is powered by a 5.0 Coyote crate engine that features a GT350 intake, throttle body, and custom cold air box. Moving back through the car, a 10-speed 10R80 automatic transmission is linked to the 5.0 and has an option to be shifted via paddles. Underneath are S550 Shelby GT350 front and rear subframes along with Penske coil-over dampers. Inside the beast, a MOTEC PDM Control System is featured in unison with a modular dash set up and STATUS Carbon Fiber seats and harnesses.
To sum up Mark's Mustang, endless hours and dollars were invested to create this pony gone mad. If you're looking for a SCCA autocross beast that looks like nothing else, you may have found your answer.
